Kurt and His Crew's 2003 Fishing Trip at Bill's Lake
They didn't come for a bounty of fat walleyes, although they caught several beyond 27". They didn't come for the "Leviathon" pike although they landed many monsters that smoked the 40" range. They came to attempt a repeat of last year's trophy trout domination.

They canoed up the Weak River, portaging no less than 25 times over a 15 mile seven hour journey to reach their honey holes of 2002. They weren't there. Maybe the hot spell had signaled them northward to colder water.

Cooling Off James Bay Frontier Style

The river waters were low, trickles pushing through sometimes. But the crew kept their spirit and back to the lakes the next day. They were making their way back to Bill's Lake outpost cabin, quite tired I would imagine along the river which set up tne confrontation with a territorial bull moose. still in good spirits. This moose determiningly refused to move out of their way. Kurt got out of the canoe first and approached within 50 yards from the bull, whose mood intensified to aggressively agitated. Fortunately, the moose realized that it better back down temporarily and allow the crew to move through. All were spared to enjoy the great walleye and northern pike fishing that followed.

Upon arrival back at the camp, another bull moose was waiting at the dock by their boat, another lord of the James Bay Frontier just letting the boys know who reigns up here.
